The Odds - AA vs KK preflop
Last night at E's I recieved KK three times in the span of 6 hours. Won 2 out of 3, the one time I lost was when I had a cooler against E who was holding AA (another player Bessman in the hand had QQ). E raises to $12, Bessman re-raises to $25, and I push $400+ with KK, call, call. E has $110 roughly, Bessman $202 roughly, so overall I lose -$8 on the hand. Cheapest KK vs AA battle that I can remember, and a good night with a $210 win. Below are the odds of getting KK vs AA.
1/221 = odds of getting either AA or KK
so in a full 10-handed game someone will get AA
1/221 * 10players = 10/221
AND
someone will get
KK 1/221 * 9players = 9/221
so the probability that you will witness or experience KK vs AA is
10/221 * 9/221 = 0.00184
1/0.00184 = 543
So the odds of seeing or experiencing it are 542:1 (or 1 in ever 542 hands)
The odds of having KK and having them run into AA are:
1/221 * 9 = probability that one of the 9 other players has AA = .04
1/.04 = 24.5 ..so the odds that your KK is against AA is 23.5:1
