18 hours of Poker

So I kept to my word. I didn't drink all weekend and instead dived into world of poker head first. Hit up a game Friday night, with decent action but a good crowd of players. Little room for bluffing, only strong hands made you money. I played for roughly 6 hours and made $40 Woohoo!!

Saturday was an unexpected all day marathon. My game was cancelled due to regulars heading to AC, so instead I attended a game in Odenton. Played from 2:30 pm to 2:30 am. Jesus, that is the longest session I have had at a home game in a loooooong time. I lose -$330 in the game although I was in the game for $600.

Overall I think I played great. One hand I should have got away from is QQ vs AA. I raise $12 preflop, folds to Kenny in the big blind who bumps it to $50, I think for awhile and think he may have AK or JJ. I call and the flop comes down 10, 10, X. He checks??? This throws me off for a minute... I think for awhile come to the conclusion he has a worse hand then me and go "All-in!" he says "I gotta call" and my heart drops. He shows AA. Ouch I hand over around $300 and believe I should have dropped the hand pre-flop.

Another hit was a multi-way limped pot I am in the SB with 55.

Flop 10 - 5 -3 (two clubs). I check to Pokerjojo who bets $12, BigSlickster raises to $22, back to me I go all-in for $300+ again, JoJo instacalls, Slickster thinks for a looong time and finally folds.

Jojo shows pocket tens vs my pocket 5's. Set over set and I am stuck another $300. So a little poor luck and I end up trying to dig my way out of a hole, but that's poker.

18 hours of poker later I feel like a degenerate. I enjoy poker but that much time at a 1/2 table turns into a grind and is no longer fun towards the end. I had the best time when Columbia Nick and I were joking around early in the game just acting like fools, that is fun and I was up $100 or so. He leaves, conversation dies down, and so do the big pots. No fun. I am thinking of throwing some money back online and playing during the week after work again, but I am not so sure yet.

when kenny checked to you, the pot was around 100. going all in was pretty bad. i'd make a small bet of around 60. that gives you a decent amount of info. if he raises, i think a fold is easy. i think if he had JJ, he'd call, AK and he'll peel, so by raising, he's telling you he has AA-KK. Nothing else is consistent with the huge reraise preflop. the only hand that is maybe consistent with that is AK, but who really play AK like that in a non-tourney setting? I think a fold preflop is kind of hard.

I am guessing this is Nevin... but I think you are right. I think I just played the hand a little to aggressive.

it's not the agression that's bad, it's the amount. But you could have checked behind too, then called him down when he bets too small (hopefully).

the good ol' fashioned All-in "information bet" never fails.

Can you beat me? I'm all in?

Oh, you called a disgusting overbet that I literally cannot get away from? Guess you _can_ beat me! Nice hand!
